University of Maryland seniors Katie Trotter and Adam Cohn were named to the 2008 Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, the league office announced Wednesday.
To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
Trotter, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., is a three-time honoree and recently finished her academic career with a 3.69 GPA in finance. She finished second on the team with a 76.9 scoring average in 2007-08 and was in the starting lineup for every tournament throughout her four-year career.
She was also honored recently by the National Golf Coaches Association as a member of the Division I All-American Scholar Team.
Cohn, a student-athlete from Binghamton, N.Y., posted a 3.92 career GPA in finance. His best golf came in his final semester, as he cracked the starting lineup midway through the spring of 2008 and posted the Terrapins' best finish at the season-ending Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va.
Duke's Amanda Blumenherst, a three-time national player of the year and a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection, was named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's golf.
Senior Barden Berry of North Carolina was the Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the ACC.
