Maryland Finishes 12th at Scenic City Invitational

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Maryland men's golf team finished 12th Tuesday at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational at Council Fire Golf Glub in Chattanooga, Tenn., putting a wrap on the 2009 fall season. The Terrapins shot 307 in the final round and finished 32 over par for the tournament at 896. John Popeck carded a 2-over-par 74 to lead all Maryland players. Overall, Popeck shot a 3-over-par 219 (73-72-74) to place 27th. Joey Rice finished with a 9-over-par 225 (74-72-79). Rounding out the counted scores were Tom Hanna III at 227 (78-71-78) and Andrew Kay at 228 (77-74-77). Donnie Shin shot 233 (76-79-78). Middle Tennessee State won the team championship by three strokes over Wichita State. Dustin Garza of Wichita State won a three-man playoff to earn the individual title. TEAM SCORES
