Terps Tie for 10th Place at Memphis Intercollegiate
Oct. 20, 2009 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Maryland men's golf team finished in a 10th-place tie at the Memphis Intercollegiate, shooting 13 over par in the final round Tuesday afternoon at Colonial Country Club for a final score of 908. Andrew Kay shot an even-par 72 in the final round to lead all Maryland scorers, finishing in a tie for 17th place with an 8-over-par 224. Kay improved every round, carding scores of 78, 74 and 72. John Popeck finished 10 over par, shooting rounds of 75, 74 and 77 to finish tied for 26th place. Tom Hanna III was one shot back of Popeck, finishing at 227 with rounds of 78, 74 and 75. Joey Rice posted his first counted score of the season, shooting 233 (80-76-77). Sean Brannan posted a 239 (78-82-79). South Alabama shot 882, 18 over par, to win the team title. South Alabama's Marc-Ettienne Bussieres easily won the individual medal, shooting 9 under par to win by 10 strokes. The Terps finish the fall season next week in Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Aldila Intercollegiate. TEAM SCORES
