Sean Boshdosh is Top Terp at Palmetto Classic

AIKEN, S.C. - Junior Sean Bosdosh led the Terps with a 73 for his final round, as Maryland finished 15th at the USC Aiken Palmetto Classic. Bosdosh shot a six-over 216 for the tournament, and finished tied for 12th. The Clarksburg, Md. native also scored the most pars at the 54-hole tournament, with 39 over the course of the two-day event.
"[Sean Bosdosh] has just been consistent all year," said director of intercollegiate golf Jason Rodenhaver. "This golf course we were playing was extremely difficult and demanding. It was windy, and you have to be on your game. Sean knows how to get the ball on the golf course in tough conditions, he's just an all-ACC type player."
Augusta State captured the team title, shooting a 16-over 856 (284-290-282) and placing two golfers in the top ten. Maryland's next best finish came from Ben Warnquist, as he shot a 227 (78-71-78) and tied for 52nd. The Terps combined to shoot a 908 (303-296-309) as a team.
Matt Atkins, from the host-team USC Aiken, captured the individual title with a four-under 206 (68-68-70). The junior scored an eagle during his final round, and jumped one spot to win the tournament.The 206 allowed him to finish two strokes ahead of Virginia's Mac McLaughlin (71-64-73=208). Augusta State's Maverick Antcliff (70-73-66) and South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith (68-69-72) tied for third at 209.
Maryland has a quick turn around as they will head to Statesboro, Ga. for the Schenkel Intercollegiate beginning on Friday, March 15.
