Golf Course The Princeton Review ranked the University of Maryland athletic facilities tops in the country, as released by the publication in August of 2009. In June 2009 the University of Maryland Golf Course partnered with the Nationwide Tour to become home to the Melwood Prince George’s County Open. An 18-hole, 6,700-yard championship golf course located on the north perimeter of the University of Maryland's flagship campus in College Park. The classic parkland layout was designed by George Cob and built in 1955 and renovated in 2008-09. Its semi-private facilities include a 5,000 square foot putting green, separate chipping greens and a 45-station driving ranged that was entirely renovated in 2006. The newly constructed clubhouse was complete in April 1999 and features a private Maryland Golf Suite, including a team lounge, team locker room facilities and coach’s offices. |
