Oct. 5, 2012
ROCKVILLE, Md. - EyeBlack, the creator of patented, innovative and hard working sports products, announced today they have partnered with Maryland Athletics to produce Maryland "PRIDE" EyeBlack. The new EyeBlack is now available for purchase on EyeBlack.com, and in the University of Maryland bookstore. The custom PRIDE EyeBlack features two different designs both including white, black, red and gold symbolizing the Maryland state flag and Terrapin uniforms.
The PRIDE EyeBlack will be worn by concessionaires, stadium workers and volunteers at Byrd Stadium for Saturday's 3:30 p.m. EDT game against Wake Forest.
"We are excited to team with Maryland Athletics and unveil this product which will get fans excited for the program, as well as the state of Maryland," said Peter Beveridge, president and founder of EyeBlack. "Maryland was one of our first customers and supported us when the company started, so it's great to partner with them again. We look forward to continuing our support for the Terps football team this season."
Headquartered in Rockville, Md., EyeBlack was incorporated in 2004. The Maryland Football team was one of the first teams to test and wear the product, which was showcased to the country during an ESPN televised game against Georgia Tech. Many players were seen wearing the Terrapin branded product including quarterback Scott McBrien. The product quickly gained popularity nationwide as athletes discovered the athletic benefits of the product, while at the same time being able to show pride for their school.
Since its debut EyeBlack has been growing at a 30 percent annual pace with an impressive 6 million pairs sold in 2011. They have further added to their growth potential this year by inking licensing deals with professional and youth sports organizations such as Major League Baseball, National Pro Fastpitch, Little League and American Youth Football. Additionally, EyeBlack works with professional athletes including NFL All-Pro linebacker, Brian Urlacher, who serves as the face of EyeBlack Original.
EyeBlack produces patented, innovative, hardworking sports products that are used worldwide by athletes to boost their on-field performance, while enabling fans to express their support for a team or specific athlete. EyeBlack manufactures products solely in the United States made from medical grade tape that is safe, tested and can breathe on the skin. EyeBlack is an official licensee of Major League Baseball (MLB), Minor League Baseball (MiLB), Major League Lacrosse (MLL), and has partnerships with many other professional athletes ranging from motorsports to the National Football League (NFL) players. Additionally, hundreds of collegiate programs are officially licensed and wear EyeBlack products.
