Important Football Parking Information - Updated for 2012 Season
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible fan experience at the University, Maryland Athletics initiated several significant parking changes in recent years for football games.
Parking permits will be required for all vehicles parking in surface lots on campus;
Anyone without a permit - including single-game ticket holders - will be directed to available cash garages: Mowatt Lane Garage, Regents Drive Garage and Terrapin Trail Garage. As parking is limited, some fans may have to park at the College Park Metro Station or other off-campus parking lots;
All parking permits will be color-coded and will feature detailed maps to assist fans in finding the appropriate lots, easing congestion throughout campus;
The parking rate for all cash lots (Mowatt Lane Garage, Lot U5, Lot U6, Lot XX1, Lot XX2, Lot T, Lot EE, Paint Branch pay lot, Lot 11b, Lot 4j, Lot 4b, Lot P, Terrapin Trail Garage, Regents Drive Garage) will be $15;
Visiting team fans will be directed to park in the black cash zone areas to limit interaction with Maryland tailgaters;
All season ticket holders (and Terrapin Club members who choose not to purchase season-long permits) will automatically be mailed a permit for a color-coded cash lot.
Purchasing season-long parking permits will provide you with the best possible fan and tailgating experience at the University of Maryland. Season ticket holders who are not Terrapin Club members may benefit from priority parking for the 2011 season by joining the Terrapin Club by calling (301) 314-7020 or visiting www.TerrapinClub.com.
If you would like to request a specific zone or additional cash permits, please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP and we will attempt to honor all requests.
Additionally, please note that the University has a "no pass-out" policy. Fans are not permitted to pass out parking permits to incoming traffic. If confiscated, the incoming car will be diverted to available cash lots. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. For questions regarding this policy, please contact Facilities, Operations & Events at 301-314-7126.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: I have been a loyal season ticket holder, my friends and I have tailgated in Lot 11b for many years. Can I still tailgate with my friends in this cash lot, even if we arrive at different times?
A: Yes. The cash lots will operate as they always have. We ask that you respect your fellow fans and adhere to the one car per one space rule to allow plenty of room for everyone. You may set up your tailgate on any green space or at the end of your parking space (as long as you do not block the driving lanes).
Q: I was mailed a Yellow Zone Cash Permit, but I would like to park in Lot T near the Engineering Building. Can I swap permits?
A: Yes. Please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP to request a specific color-zoned permit.
Q: I have four season tickets and received 1 cash permit with my tickets. Can I request additional cash permits?
A: Yes. Please call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP to request additional cash permits. Additional permits in Terrapin Club lots are not available.
Q: What are the benefits of joining the Terrapin Club to get preferred parking?
A: There are many. First, your support of the Terrapin Club goes directly to providing scholarships for deserving student-athletes. Second, members enjoy preferred lots, better seating options inside the stadium, and a host of additional benefits. And third, Terrapin Club members pay only $10 per game (a 33% savings over cash lots). For more information on supporting the Terrapin Club, please call (301) 314-7020 or visit www.TerrapinClub.com.
Q: If I am a Maryland student, where can I park?
A: Maryland athletics will make 100 cash lot permits available to students on a per game basis. These permits may be picked up at the Terrapin Ticket Office in the Comcast Center on a first-come, first-serve basis starting the week of each game. Students can use these cash permits and pay $15 on the day of the game. Maryland students may also park in the following areas free of charge: Lots C2, L, K, visitor's center, and any campus meter.
