Terps vs. NIU Television Information

Aug. 26, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland's 2003 football season opener this Thursday night against Mid-American Conference foe Northern Illinois will be featured nationally on cable television -- shown live and on taped delay to approximately 24 Fox Sports Net affiliates that reach an estimated 95,444,000 potential households across the country.

The Maryland-NIU tussle -- which will air at 7:30 p.m. -- will be carried live locally by NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C., and CN8 in Baltimore. Both stations are at channel 8 on Comcast cable (D.C. and Baltimore). The game will also run tape delayed on Comcast SportsNet on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

In the greater Hagerstown, Md., area, the game will be aired live on Antietam Cable Channel 65. Channel 65's coverage will begin with Fox Sports Net's pregame show at 7 p.m.

For those with DirectTV or Dish Network, other major cable outlets for the Northern Illinois-Maryland game include Fox Sports Net Arizona, Fox Sports Net Bay Area, Fox Sports Net Florida, Fox Sports Net Midwest, Fox Sports Net Ohio, Fox Sports Net Detroit, Fox Sports Net Wisconsin, Fox Sports Net New England, Fox Sports Net North, Fox Sports Net Northwest, Fox Sports Net New York, Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh, Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain, Fox Sports Net Southwest, Fox Sports Net South, Fox Sports Net West, and Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia.

The Terrapins had eight games televised nationally a year ago and four others shown on a regional basis.

In other broadcast-related news, the Terps' game at Florida State on September 6th will air live on 98 ROCK (97.9 FM) rather than its usual spot on WBAL in Baltimore. The game will air on all of the other regular Terrapin Radio Network affiliates - including WMAL (630 AM) in Washington, D.C. - while being televised nationally by ESPN.

Kickoff for the game from Tallahassee is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the Terrapins will be seeking their first win in series history against the Seminoles.
