COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Terrapins officially welcomed 22 newcomers to the football family on Sunday, reporting day for the freshmen.

The newcomers check in at the Gossett Team House in the afternoon, had dinner with their families and the coaching staff in the evening before beginning the indoctrination process.

A few of the first-year players have been a part of the team for some time, including QB Devin Burns, LB Lorne Goree and LB David Mackall who all enrolled in January and took part in spring practice.

That trio has a jump start over the other spring signees who include OL Sal Conaboy, DL Ian Evans, OL Max Garcia, DB Jeremiah Johnson, DB Desmond Kearse, DL Darius Kilgo, DL Andre Monroe, RB Rahsaan Moore, DL Clarence Murphy, DB Matt Robinson, DB Mario Rowson, QB Tyler Smith, DB Titus Till, OL Jake Wheeler and DB Jeremiah Wilson.

That group of 15 players worked out with the strength and conditioning staff over the summer, but will participate in their first practice on Tuesday when preseason camp opens.

Hasani Cromwell (Packton, Md./Hereford HS), David Morrison (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia-Manor HS), Greg Harraka (Washington, D.C./St John's HS) and Alex Walker also took part in the first-day activities.

Walker, brother of third-year player Austin Walker, enrolled in classes in January and took part in spring practice. Cromwell, Morrison and Harraka just joined the team and will practice for the first time Tuesday.

Veterans are scheduled to report Monday afternoon. The 105 members of the preseason camp roster will meet for the first time Monday evening.

The team will hold its annual media day on Tuesday. Head coach Ralph Friedgen will address the media during a noon news conference. Players and assistant coaches will visit with the media later in the day.
