Friedgen on Armstrong: "I try to recruit winners, players who have played in or competed for championships and Dion has (over the last two years). When you see Dion, he's a nose guard. He's 6-1, about 310 pounds. And the thing that impressed me (most) is that he runs very well, and he's a very powerful kid."

Travis is one of the top kickers in the country. He came here and kicked in one of our camps, and we were recruiting him heavily. He's a great student, he was number one in his class in high school and now he's here at Maryland."

He wanted to be quarterback, but I talked him into trying receiver at this last camp, and he's a natural. He comes out of cuts better than any receiver we have right now, and better than the pro athletes I coached. The ability to change direction was very impressive. He played in an all-star game down in Orlando and the coaches who were on that game called me and raved about him. He's also a very good student. This kid is quite a good kid and has a great personality. I think he has a chance to be a very good wide receiver."

He has to sit out next year, but we lose two safeties this coming year, so he's a guy that has some experience. He's a good student, and I've been very impressed with him so far, and I think that we're very fortunate that he wanted to transfer to Maryland."

He's a very athletic quarterback, and I'm going to try and focus on that type of guys. I think the reason he committed to us is the success we had with Joe Hamilton at Georgia Tech. He's also in school right now, and he will compete for the quarterback job this spring."
