The Terps had their six-game home-winning streak snapped at six.
Maryland had two players rush for 50 yards in the same game (Keon Lattimore, 119/Lance Ball, 64) for the fourth time this season. The Terps won each of the previous three games.
Tonight's game was a sellout (51,500) and marked the 20th largest crowd in Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium history. It was the first sellout of the season for the Terrapins, with the last one occurring on Nov. 19, 2005 vs. Boston College.
Isaiah Gardner had five tackles and one interception in first quarter. Gardner ended the game with eight tackles, which tied his career high. Winbush also had five tackles in the first quarter and set a new season-high with 10 tackles.
With 64 rushing yards, Lance Ball jumped two spots to 14th on the Maryland career chart. Ball now has 1,621 career rushing yards.
Ball and Lattimore posted rushing touchdowns in the same game for the second time this season.
Dan Ennis connected on his 12th straight field-goal attempt in the third quarter when his 26-yarder split the uprights.
Isaiah Williams' 48-yard reception in the fourth quarter was the longest of his career. He later caught a five-yard touchdown pass to cut the Wake Forest lead to seven (31-24).
Sam Hollenbach tossed one touchdown passes tonight and has 26 in his career, tying him for fourth on the Maryland career chart.
Thirteen Maryland seniors played their final home game this evening. Those seniors were 33-Josh Allen, 95-Conrad Bolston, 41-T.D. Callahan, 22-Dan Ennis, 70-Stephon Heyer, 14-Sam Hollenbach, 54-David Holloway, 7-J.P. Humber, 36-Adam Podlesh, 88-Greg Powell, 11-Drew Weatherly, 4-Josh Wilison and 12-Marcus Wimbush. The current senior class is currently 28-18 over the last four years and 39-21 over the last five seasons.
