    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Maryland continues a stretch of tough tests with a trip to storied Assembly Hall and a Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup with Indiana. In a four-game stretch, the Terrapins have faced Cincinnati and Wisconsin at the EA Sports Maui Invitational, have this trip to Indiana and return to the Washington, D.C., area on Sunday to meet Villanova in the BB&T Classic at Verizon Center.

    Tuesday's game at Indiana will be televised on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's game against Villanova at the Verizon Center will air on MASN and Fox Sports South at 7:30 p.m.

    Both games can also be heard across the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, including Baltimore flagships WJZ-FM (105.7), WJZ-AM (1300). In Washington, D.C., the games will be heard on WTGB-FM (94.7).

  • Maryland is 7-3 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and has won the last four straight. The Terps have met the Hoosiers once before in the Challenge, losing 80-74 in overtime on 12/3/2002 in a game played at Conseco Fieldhouse. That loss came eight months after the Terrapins defeated Indiana, 64-52, to win the 2002 NCAA National Championship.

  • Greivis Vasquez is coming off back-to-back double-figure scoring games. Vasquez had game-high totals of 19 points against Cincinnati and 18 against Wisconsin in the final two games of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. He has pushed his scoring average back into double figures also (11.5 ppg) and is one of four Terrapins averaging in double figures so far this year.

  • Maryland has been particularly strong at the defensive end thus far... The Terps allowed their first six opponents just 57.7 points per game and have held opponents to .368 shooting from the floor... Maryland has turned the ball over just 65 times in six games, but has forced 115 turnovers by its opponents (+8.4 turnover margin per game).
     

     

    Scouting the Hoosiers

    Indiana comes into the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with a 3-3 mark, having won all three home games so far this season... The Hoosiers lost all three games at the Puero Rico Tipoff from Nov. 19-22...

    Maryland is the third Washington, D.C., area team on the Indiana schedule thus far... The Hoosiers beat Howard at home in the season-opener, 83-60, on 11/13/09, then lost to George Mason in the final game of the Puerto Rico Tipoff, 69-66, on 11/22/09...

    Indiana head coach Tom Crean is seeking his 200th career victory... He was 190-96 in nine seasons at Marquette...

    Maurice Creek is the top freshman scorer in the Big Ten Conference with a 16.3 ppg average... He also has a team-high 14 3-pointers...

    Sophomore guard Verdell Jones (12.3 ppg) and freshman forward Christian Watford (12.0 ppg) are also averaging in double figures... Watford leads the Hoosiers in rebounding at 7.3, with Jeremiah Rivers, a redshirt junior guard, leading with 29 assists...

    Sophomore Tom Pritchard (5.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg) is the other starter thus far for IU.

    Big Ten / ACC Challenge

    Maryland is 7-3 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, having won four straight in the series... The Terrapins' last loss in the 10-year event came in December 2004 when the Terps lost, 69-64, at Wisconsin... Since then, Maryland has beaten Minnesota, Illinois twice and beat Michigan, 75-70, a year ago...

    Maryland and Indiana have met in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge once before, with the Hoosiers earning an 80-74 overtime victory over the Terps in December 2002... That game was a rematch of the April 2002 matchup in the NCAA National Championship, won by the Terrapins, 64-52...

    Terps Among Decade's Best

    Lindy's College Basketball preseason magazine hit the newsstands and has touted the University of Maryland men's basketball program in a number of ways.

    The Terrapins are listed ninth among the decade's top programs by the magazine. The listing notes Maryland's national championship in 2002, as well as its 223-111 record during the decade.

    Senior point guard Greivis Vasquez is listed on the Terps' All-Decade Team along with Lonny Baxter, Steve Blake, Nik Caner-Medley and Juan Dixon.

    The Terps share "The Decade's Top 10 Programs" with Kansas, North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, UConn, Florida, UCLA, Texas and Arizona.

    Tri-Captains

    Maryland has three captains representing the team in a leadership role in 2009-10... Seniors Greivis Vasquez, Landon Milbourne and Eric Hayes will be the captains this year... Vasquez and Milbourne were captains as juniors a year ago.
