COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Gary Williams announced Tuesday that Nick Faust and Sterling Gibbs have signed national letters-of-intent to play men's basketball at the University of Maryland next fall.

Faust is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Baltimore City College High School, who was rated 37th nationally among all prospects by ESPN.

Gibbs is a 6-foot-1 point guard from Seton Hall Prep in Scotch Plains, N.J., who was the 23rd-ranked point in the nation by ESPN.

The duo is slated to replace the three-player senior class which is on pace to graduate in the spring. Maryland's roster includes seniors Adrian Bowie, Dino Gregory and Cliff Tucker.

Four-star prospect who graded at 95 by ESPN.com... Rated 13th at shooting guard and 37th overall nationally by ESPN... Rated 10th nationally among shooting guards by Rivals.com... Led City to two straight Maryland Class 2A state titles... Averaged 19.7 points and 5.3 rebounds as a junior... Posesses a "sly athleticism" according to ESPN.com... Also considered Oregon State, Florida State, Marquette and Villanova.

Williams on Faust: "Nick has the ability to handle the ball and be a scorer at the same time. At 6-foot-6, he is a very versatile basketball player."

STERLING GIBBS (6-1, 180, PG, Scotch Plains, N.J., Seton Hall Prep)
Three-star prospect who graded at a 91 by ESPN.com... No. 22 point guard in the nation as ranked by Scout.com... Averaged 20 points and eight assists as a junior for the Pirates, who went 26-3... Averaged 15.7 ppg as a sophomore... Member of the 2009-10 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team ... Member of the 2009 USA U16 National Team that posted a 5-0 mark and captured the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship gold medal, averaging 9.2 ppg and 2.2 apg ... ESPN.com says Gibbs "is a complete point guard with a tremendous work ethic"... Chose Maryland over Seton Hall, Florida, Indiana and Pitt... Older brother Ashton plays at Pittsburgh.

Williams on Gibbs: "Sterling is a very smart point guard who has played against outstanding competition in the New Jersey / New York area. Sterling plays the game in such a way that he makes his team better. He is a winner, and that is what we look for in our recruits."
