Game Notes (PDF)

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 2009-10 University of Maryland men's basketball season begins Tuesday with the Terrapins' lone exhibition game against NCAA Division II regional powerhouse Indiana, Pa.

The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, with Baltimore flagships on WJZ-FM (105.7), WJZ-AM (1300) and in Washington, D.C., on WGTB-FM-94.7. In Washington, WJFK-FM (106.7) will host a half-hour pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Maryland returns all but one starter from last season's team that went 21-14 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division I Tournament. The Terrapins came together late in the season a year ago, advancing to the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

Three seniors highlight this Terrapin squad, including Greivis Vasquez, Eric Hayes and Landon Milbourne. Vasquez, the only player in Maryland basketball history to lead his team in points, rebounds and assists in the same season, is already on preseason watch lists for the Wooden Award and the Naismith Award, given to the national player of the year.

In preseason polls released last week, the Terrapins were 26th in both the Associated Press rankings by the media, as well as the ESPN/USA Today coaches ranking.

Maryland has been ranked as high as 20th in the nation by some preseason magazines and tabbed to finish as high as third in the ACC.

The Crimson Hawks of IUP come to College Park with an equally strong preseason stance. The Sporting News listed the Crimson Hawks sixth in the nation in its preseason preview, the only school from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in the top 10.

Junior forward Darryl Webb earned preseason honorable mention All-America honors from The Sporting News, and returns 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds to the Crimson Hawks' lineup.
