Milbourne to Join East Coast All-Stars
Aug. 3, 2007
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland sophomore forward Landon Milbourne (Roswell, Ga./Oak Hill Academy) will play for the East Coast All-Stars, a summer touring team that will compete in Belgium and Holland. Members of the team will travel to Stony Brook University on August 6 for two practices before departing on August 7. The team will spend five days in Holland and four in Belgium, returning August 16. The team will open the seven-game schedule August 9 against the Dutch National Team.
"This is a great opportunity for me and one I couldn't pass up," said Milbourne. "I've been working hard this summer in the weight room and on a few aspects of my game that needed to improve and this trip will give me an opportunity to put those into practice against a high level of competition. Having the chance to get some additional game experience before the season will be a big help to me so I can make an impact on our team this year."
The East Coast All-Stars are organized through Basketball Travelers, Inc., and will be making their second European Tour after visiting Denmark and Sweden in August 2006. Stony Brook assistant coach Guy Rancourt will serve as head coach.
Selected to join Milbourne on the 2007 East Coast All-Stars roster were: Alvin Bray (St. Joseph's), Steven D'Agostino (Saint Rose), Bryan Davis (Texas A&M), Anthony Farmer (Rutgers), Jaron Griffin (Rutgers), Brett Harvey (Loyola), Josh Linthicum (Bucknell), Zach Peacock (Georgia Tech), Rio Pitt (Stony Brook) and Perry Stevenson (Kentucky).
Milbourne appeared in 16 games as a freshman for the Terps in 2006-07. He scored a personal-best five points at St. John's in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic and again against Missouri-Kansas City. Milbourne made his collegiate debut against Hampton on November 7 and played 16 minutes off the bench.
