COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Baltimore BayRunners of the International Basketball League announced on Thursday the recipients of individual honors for their 1999-2000 inaugural season. Receiving the top award as the team's most valuable player was former Maryland Terrapin star Rodney Elliott (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS).

Elliott received the BayRunners' top on-court award after starting in 50 of the 53 games in which he appeared. The 6-8 forward led the team in scoring with 14.6 points per contest, and on the glass with 6.2 rebounds per game. He was second on the team while logging 1,793 minutes.

Elliott finished the season ranked 13th in the IBL in scoring, 14th in rebounding and 10th in minutes for the expansion franchise which finished 17-47 in its first season. Elliott was also the BayRunners' first recipient of the IBL Player of the Week award, earning the honor for games played between Jan. 10 and Jan. 16 in which he averaged 19.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the week.

Elliott has previously been recognized for his contributions both on and off the court as both the City of Baltimore (1/26/98) and the BayRunners (1/28/00) have hosted days in his honor.

At Maryland from 1995-98, Elliott led the Terps with 7.4 rebounds as a senior while earning Maryland MVP and third team All-ACC accolades.
