GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland opens its play in the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Thursday, March 10 with a first-round matchup against NC State at 7 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Terrapins, 18-13 overall and 7-9 in the league, are the No. 7 seed in the 12-team tournament. The Wolfpack finished 15-15 overall and 5-11 in the league and are the 10th seed.

The winner of Thursday's first-round game will play Friday at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal matchup with No. 2 seed Duke (27-4, 13-3).

Thursday's game between the Terrapins and Wolfpack will be televised nationally on ESPN2. It can also be heard around the Baltimore-Washington area and throughout the state on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network.

Maryland won its only meeting with the Wolfpack during the regular season, 87-80, on Feb. 20 at Comcast Center. The last time Maryland faced NC State in the ACC Tournament was in 2009, also in a 7-10 first-round game, when the Terrapins earned a 74-69 victory at the Georgia Dome. - dd -
