Terps In The NBA
Maryland’s consistent success under Gary Williams over the past 21 seasons has resulted in a large number of Terrapin stars playing professionally in the NBA and overseas.

In 2010, Greivis Vasquez became the most recent Terrapin selected, being selected by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 28th pick overall in the first round. He became the 31st player coached by Gary Williams to be selected in the NBA Draft in Williams’ 31 years of coaching.

Steve Blake, the point guard from the 2002 national-championship team, has enjoyed a stellar career in the NBA. This season, Blake will be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He joins Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox as current Maryland players in the NBA.

In the NBA specifically, the annual draft has become a barometer of Terrapin success, as Maryalnd has landed 17 players overall in the draft since Williams’ return to College Park, and 11 draft picks since 199 alone.
