GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of Maryland placed five players on the Atlantic Coast Conference's All-Academic Baseball Team, the conference announced Friday. Only Florida State, with six selections, placed more players on the team than the Terrapins.

Former Maryland catcher Chad Durakis (finance/business management) was one of seven three-time honorees. He was joined by fellow graduates Kevin Biringer (civil engineering) and Joe Palumbo (finance/business management).

Terps third baseman Mike Murphy (finance/business management) made the team for the second straight season and relief pitcher Matt Quinn (education) was one of only four freshmen to make the team.

Former Florida State catcher Buster Posey was named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

To be considered for inclusion on the team, all student-athletes must have earned a 3.0 GPA in the previous semester, as well as a cumulative GPA better than 3.0 for their academic career.
