Terps Announce Summer League Assignments Six Terps headed to prestigious Cape Cod League

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Though the season ended just three weeks ago, the Maryland baseball program has already begun its preparation for the 2013 season as 18 returning underclassmen are playing summer baseball in wooden bat leagues around the nation.

Six of those players are competing in the prestigious Cape Cod League, which is believed to be the most Maryland has ever sent to the nation's premier summer league. Second baseman Kyle Convissar will play for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox; outfielder Jordan Hagel and first baseman Tim Kiene will suit up for the Cotuit Kettleers; right-handed pitcher Brady Kirkpatrick will play for the Brewster Whitecaps; while outfielder Michael Montville and left-handed pitcher Jimmy Reed will play for the Orleans Firebirds.

A quartet of players who just completed their first season in College Park will stay local in the Cal Ripken League, with outfield Matt Bosse playing for the Baltimore Redbirds, third baseman K.J. Hockaday heading to Youse's Orioles, catcher Brent Jones suiting up for the Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts and outfielder Anthony Papio playing for the Alexandria Aces.

Maryland has three players assigned to the New England Collegiate Baseball League: left-handed pitcher Ben Brewster to the Danbury Westerners, right-handed pitcher Charlie Haslup to the Sanford Mainers and Charlie White to the Newport Gulls.

Left-handed pitcher Jamie Pashuck and right-handed pitcher Bobby Ruse will play for the Danville Dans of the Prospect League; right-handed pitcher Robert Galligan will play for the North Fork Ospreys of the Hamptons League; Andrew Amaro will play for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League; and Californian Jake Stinnett will play for the North County Waves of the Western Baseball Association.
