Moorer Chosen By Seattle Mariners In 12th Round of MLB Draft

June 8, 2007

Maryland junior pitcher Ryan Moorer (Peabody, Mass./Peabody Veterans Memorial HS) was chosen by the Seattle Mariners in the 12th round (375th overall) of the 2007 MLB Draft on Friday.

Moorer, a hard-throwing right handed pitcher, is the second Maryland Terrapin to be taken in the 2007 Draft, after teammate Brett Cecil was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 38th overall pick on Thursday.

The Peabody, Mass., native started 14 games for the Terps in 2007, amassing a 5.43 ERA with a 3-6 record.
