SEBaseball.com Names Terp Outfielder Truan Mehl Second-Team All-ACC
May 23, 2005 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior outfielder Truan Mehl was named a second team All-Atlantic Coast Conference today by SEBaseball.com. Mehl, a starter in all 54 games in the Maryland outfield, hit .346, scored 39 runs and finished among the top 10 in the ACC with 19 doubles. Mehl had a breakout season for the Terps, leading the team in average (.346), runs scored (39), hits (80), at-bats (231) and total bases (111) and was one of the team's steadiest performers all season. With the 2005 ACC Tournament still left on the Maryland schedule, Mehl already ranks ninth on Maryland's single-season hits list and third on the single-season at-bats list. Mehl and the rest of the Terrapins begin ACC Tournament play as the No. 10 seed Tuesday at 3 p.m. when they take on conference newcomer and No. 9 seed Virginia Tech. Maryland took two of three games from the Hokies earlier this season and pounded out 23 hits in the one game it lost. The winner will play the winner of No. 8 Wake Forest and No. 11 Duke at 8 p.m. for the right to play in to the main tournament bracket and take on regular season champion Georgia Tech (Wednesday at 7 p.m.). Live webcasts will be available for each non-televised ACC Tournament game, and you can reach the webcast schedule by clicking here.
