Baseball Defeats Duke

Terps win in 10 innings.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A pinch hit single in the bottom of the 10th inning by Maryland's Jared Vogt scored Scott Bronowicz to give the Terps a 5-4 win over Duke this evening at Shipley Field. The win improves Maryland's overall record to 21-23-1 and 4-15 in the ACC, while Duke falls to 34-15 overall, 6-13 in the conference.

Trailing 4-3 entering the eighth inning, Adam Ross' two-out single off Duke reliever Chris Capuano scored Brian Patenaude to tie the game 4-4. Maryland's closer Mike Ginsberg entered in the ninth inning and allowed one hit and put the Blue Devils down in order in the 10th to earn his third win of the season.

The game's first four runs scored on solo home runs by Maryland's Jason Mohap and Larry Long and a two-run shot by Duke's Vaughn Schill. Duke took a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single by Ed Conrey and an double by John Benik that scored Jordan Litrownik. The Terps' third run of the game scored on a Mohap sacrifice fly that scored Casey Trout in the sixth inning.

The three-game series concludes on Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m.
