Oct. 17, 2011

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Men's basketball head coach Mark Turgeon and athletics director Kevin Anderson will speak in downtown College Park Monday, Oct. 17 at the Barking Dog, 7416 Baltimore Ave., beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Experience & Enjoy College Park Tour is designed to bring those who work, live and play in College Park once a month to discuss local issues while supporting a locally owned restaurant.

The events aim to promote the idea of supporting the independent businesses in College Park and building community pride.

Turgeon is in his first season as the head coach of the Maryland men's basketball program. His team began practice on Saturday for the season which begins with an exhibition game on Nov. 4 against Northwood.

Anderson is in his second season as the director of athletics for the Terrapins. In his first year, the athletics department celebrated five Atlantic Coast Conference championships and a best-ever 17th-place finish in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup standings.
