Terps Volunteer At Area Women's Shelter Holiday Event
Dec. 31, 2008
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Members of the Maryland competitive cheer team helped an area women's shelter with an annual holiday event, "Wrap For Mom Night," which was held earlier this month. Teammates took part in a special event at House of Ruth, Inc., which is located in Baltimore, Md., during exam week. They helped children at the shelter pick out gifts for their mothers, taught them how to wrap presents, and helped them make cards. "We're so grateful to the Maryland Cheer volunteers for donating their time during exam week to plan and implement "Wrap for Mom Night," said Jana Mauro, the Volunteer Director from the shelter. "They clearly put a lot of thought and work into the event and it went very well. The children and moms alike were still talking about the event days later!" The team will come back to work in the next few weeks after the holiday break to prepare for the American Masters in Baltimore, Jan.31-Feb. 1.
