COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland competitive cheer team is hard at work preparing for the upcoming competition season. With less than a month to go before its first competition, the team has already been putting pieces of its routine together.

The Terrapins' first performance of the 2008-09 year was at Maryland Madness on Oct. 17. The Terps treated the crowd to an impressive first performance. The event also included appearances from the men's and women's basketball teams, the Gymkana team, the spirit squad and an alumni game.

The Terps hosted their first clinic of the season on Sunday. Girls from all over the area came to learn new skills and routines from the Terrapin team.

The team will kick off its competition season on Sat., Dec. 6 at a Jamfest competition in Upper Marlboro, Md. The Terps won their third consecutive national title at NCA Nationals last April.
