COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland competitive cheer team will head to Atlanta, Ga. this weekend to compete in the Cheersport nationals competition, held at the Georgia World Congress Center. The Terps were named national champions at last year's Cheersport competition.

They will take on University of Louisville, who was named second to the Terps at last year's NCA nationals. This is the first time the two teams will meet at the Cheersport nationals. Kennesaw State University, who was third at last year's NCA nationals, will compete against the Terps as well.

Maryland, competing in the College/Open All Girl Level 6 division, will also compete against teams from North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, University of Florida and Newberry College.

The Terrapins will compete at 1:27 p.m. Saturday and at 1:40 p.m. Sunday. Their awards ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday evening.

The Cheersport national competition is one of the largest cheerleading competitions in the world, with over 900 teams from over 40 states expected to compete in this year's event.
