March 12, 2013
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland track and field coach Andrew Valmon announced the team's 2013 outdoor schedule Tuesday. Valmon, who also served as the head coach of Team USA at last summer's London Olympics, will work closely with his staff as they try to carry momentum from a successful indoor campaign outdoors.
The Terps will compete in six meets throughout the season in preparation for three postseason championships.
To open the season, Maryland will travel to Orlando on March 22-23 to compete in the UCF Invitational, a competition in which they won two individual events last season. Last year, the Terps had three of the top five finishers in the high jump and won the steeplechase.
After a week of practice, the Terps will compete in their first home meet on March 30. The Maryland Invitational, which takes place on campus at the Kehoe Track Complex, saw both the men's and women's teams capture a total of seven victories in individual events last year
Maryland then hits the road for three meets before closing out the season at home. The squads will split for the Florida Relays and Duke Invite (April 5-6) before coming back together for a trip to Philadelphia (April 25-27) for the Penn Relays.
The ACC Championships are scheduled for April 18-20 in Cary, N.C.
The Terps close out the regular season with their second home meet - the Kehoe Twilight - scheduled for May 3 at the Kehoe Track Complex.
After the regular season wraps, the Terps will have one week to prepare for the ECAC Outdoor Championships, which will take place May 10-12 in Princeton, N.J.
The NCAA Regional Competition is set for May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C., followed by the NCAA Championships on June 6-8 in Eugene, Oreg.
