Anwah Places Third at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - Jillian Anwah had a third-place finish in the shot put to lead University of Maryland performances during the first day of competition at the Penn Relays yesterday.

The senior had a mark of 48-09 in the event.

In the eastern division of the shot put, Aysha Gregory finished tenth with a mark of 43-08. Gregory also finished ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 173-03. In the college division of the shot put, Ashley Williams placed sixth with a mark of 45-11.

Also for the Terrapin women, Kristen Batts had a fifth-place finish in the college division of the discus,with a mark of 145-05.

The Terrapins will continue competition at the Penn Relays tomorrow. The day begins with the men's 400-meter hurdles, as senior Adam Durham will look to improve upon his eighth-place finish in the event at last week's ACC Championships.
