Terps Off The Track
The Maryland track and field program is committed to enhancing the experience of student-athletes through enriching community service endeavors and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each year, athletes in the program rise as leaders among their peers and are honored for their academic performances and service to others.
We are proud to push our student-athletes to the top of their class academically to help them be successful in life. Graduates of the Maryland track and field program go on to pursue successful careers and make contributions to society.
In the 2009-10 school year, 11 Maryland track and field student-athletes achieved a 4.0 grade-point average, 25 athletes earned Dean’s List honors and 42 made it to the university’s Honor Roll. Christina Nelson, a standout middle-distance runner for the Terps last year, earned a prestigious Atlantic Coast Conference Postgraduate Scholarship last year, one of only three Maryland students so honored by the league.
