The name Renaldo “Skeets” Nehemiah has always meant something special to track and field fans. Considered one of the best hurdles in history, Nehemiah is arguably the most recognizable alumnus from the Terrapin track and field program. A member of the USATF Hall of Fame, Nehemiah was an NCAA national champion and world record-holder in the high hurdles.

As part of the 50-Year Anniversary celebration of the Atlantic Coast Conference, a number of Maryland Track & Field standouts were honored. Nehemiah was listed among the top 10 male athletes ever to compete in the league, regardless of sport.

The current levels of attention and excellence in the Maryland track and field program get their roots from legendary coaches. Jim Kehoe, who coached at Maryland from 1954-69, is a member of the U.S. Track and Field / Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The track and field complex at Maryland also bears his name.

There are 23 products of the track and field program who have been honored in the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame.
