Winter Sports Continue ... Overall record 26-9-0 (.740) ... The Men's (4-0, 1-0 ACC) and Women's (4-0, 1-0 ACC) Swimming and Diving's next meet on January 14, 1998 against George Washington will be the first ever meet at the new Campus Recreation Center Natatorium ... The Men's Basketball Team (7-5, 0-2 ACC) defeated UNC-Asheville (110-52) and UNC-Wilmington (74-36) and then lost to Missouri (83-79) and Duke (104-72) ... their next game is Wednesday, January 7th against Florida State at 7:00 pm ... the game will be televised on ESPN ... The Women's Basketball Team (9-4, 2-1 ACC) lost to Duke (65-48) ... the Terps then went on to the Mr. Cookie Face Holiday Classic hosted by St. Peter's in New Jersey ... at the tournament they defeated South Carolina (74-60) on the first day and then lost to St. Peter's (66-61) on the second day ... at their home game on January 4th, they proceeded to defeat Wake Forest (61-59) ... their next game will be Thursday, January 8th at Virginia at 7:30 pm ... The Wrestling Team (2-0, 0-0 ACC) sent a total of five wrestlers to the Midlands Tournament and Wilkes Open ... freshman Brandon York made it to the quarter-finals before being defeated ... their next meet will be on Friday, January 9th at 1:00 pm versus James Madison in Ritchie Coliseum ... The Gymnastic Team (0-0, 0-0 ACC) will start their season on January 9th at 5:00 pm versus Towson State in Richie Coliseum ... The Track & Field Team (0-0, 0-0 ACC) begins their season on Saturday, January 10th with the Father Diamond meet.
