COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sumed Ibrahim (Tamale, Ghana) a senior midfielder, and Rachel Wagener (Chesapeake, Va.) a sophomore middle blocker, have been selected Maryland student-athletes of the week for their athletic performances the week of September 22.

Sumed ignited the No.1 Maryland men's soccer team's rally with the team's first goal against George Mason on September 24. The goal tied the score at 1-1, after the Terps had fallen behind for the first time all season. He also tacked on another goal later in that game as Maryland went on to win 5-1. Sumed also scored the game-winner against No. 16 Wake Forest, on September 27, on a tough angle from the left wing as Maryland won, 1-0. Look for Sumed, an economics major, and the Terps as they travel to North Carolina, Sunday, October 5. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.

Wagener compiled 23 kills and 19 blocks in two wins for the Maryland women's volleyball team. The Terps opened the ACC portion of their schedule at 2-0 for the first time since 1997. Wagener had a career-high 12 blocks against Wake Forest, and hit .404 for the weekend. Look for Wagener, a kinesiology major, and the Terps as they head to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. on October 3.
