POSITION VACANCY

 

POSITION TITLE:               Superintendant - Golf Short Course/(Coordinator)

                                               

DEPARTMENT:                   Intercollegiate Athletics

 

CATEGORY:                         Full-time, Exempt (114720)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Short Course Superintendant will be responsible for independently maintaining the newly contructed, five (5) acre, golf short game practice facility of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Holman Short Game Golf Facility is a dedicated practice facility for the exclusive use of the men's and women's golf teams located near the fourth hole of the University of Maryland Golf Course.  It features three practice greens for putting, chipping and pitching, plus multiple fairways providing approach shots up to 100 yards. The newly created Superintendant position will be in charge of day-to-day maintenance of the short course facility, including but not limited to mowing greens, collars, fairways, roughs and rolling greens, verticutting, topdressing, aerification, daily bunker maintenance, cutting cups, applying fertilizers, fungicides and plant growth regulators, as well as performing routine disease checks. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Science or related field, or equivalent education, experience, and training required. Minimum three (3) years experience in the golf course industry required. Knowledge and experience with A1 and A4 bentgrass required. Ability to work nights and weekends required.

 

SALARY:       Commensurate with experience.
