COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Erin Clasper of the women's golf team and Andrew "Buggs" Combs of the men's lacrosse team have been named Student-Athletes of the Week by the Department of Athletics.
Clasper, a freshman from North Potomac, Md., helped the Terps to a seventh-place finish in last week's Snowbird Intercollegiate golf tournament hosted by Northern Illinois University. She carded a second-round score of par 72 and had a two-day total of six-over 150 for a sixth-place individual finish out of 114 competitors. Her finish is the highest by a Terp during their inaugural season as a varsity sport.
Combs, a junior from Baltimore, was named the ACC Player of the Week after leading the Terps to a pair of victories. Combs netted three goals in each of Maryland's games last week, opening with a three-goal outing, including the game-winner, in a 13-4 win over No. 18 Delaware. He followed that effort with a hat trick in an 8-7 victory over No. 11 Cornell.
Clasper is majoring in elementary education, Combs is majoring in communications.
