2007-2008 Compliance Committee of the Whole
Responsibilities:
Oversees entire compliance process at the University of Maryland.
Meets twice per year:
- September: to review procedures for upcoming year.
- Late April/Early May: to review the year, evaluate the whole program, make recommendations for future years.

SUB-COMMITTEES OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
(Number and Purpose)

Four sub-committees are in place.
Each responsible for recommendations to the Committee of the Whole regarding helpful changes in the compliance process related to their specific areas of focus/concern.
Each, where appropriate, should establish calendars or flow charts to better delineate their tasks.
Notes are kept on file in the office of Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
Each sub-committee chair is responsible for an Annual Report presented at the May meeting of the Committee of the Whole. Annual reports are kept on file in the office of the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

FINANCIAL AID SUB-COMMITTEE
|
Meets at discretion of chair.
Convenes as needed.
Responsible for setting UM policies and procedures for administrations of financial aid, in concert with NCAA rules and regulations.
Annual review of procedures, forms and documentation is conducted each spring.

ELIGIBILITY / CERTIFICATION SUB-COMMITTEE

Meets at discretion of chair.
Responsible for implementing University of Maryland academic policies and procedures regarding eligibility and certification, in concert with NCAA rules and regulations.
Annual review of procedures and forms takes place no less than once a year or as needed.

Reviews and revises the Student-Athlete Handbook annually.
Meets once a year in the Spring.

INVESTIGATING, MONITORING AND REPORTING SUB-COMMITTEE

Meets at discretion of chair.
Investigates reported viable NCAA violations.
Reviews University of Maryland self-reports of secondary violations.
Recommends self-imposed penalties, when appropriate, for any violation.

THE CHAIR OF EACH COMMITTEE IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Notification of all meetings to members is mailed two weeks prior to each meeting date.
2. Minutes of each meeting are recorded and provided for file at the office of the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. (The chair appoints a "note taker" for each meeting.)
3. All initiatives are coordinated with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and completed within designated time frame. ICA will always be available to assist in completion of initiatives.
