The volleyball season is quickly approaching as we reach the end of July. The Terps begin practice August 8. As the season nears, I will be introducing you to the newest members of the Terrapin squad starting with Dani Bozzini. Dani starred at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Calif., before arriving in College Park. She was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball and a two-year letterwinner in basketball for the Monarchs.

Q: When it came time to decide where you wanted to continue your volleyball career, what made Maryland the best fit?

After going to the camp, meeting the current players and getting a better understanding of the coaches and how they coached, I felt that Maryland was the best fit for me. Also, academically, I was really impressed with the journalism school and felt that it would be a great fit for me and my career aspirations in broadcast journalism.

Q: What do you think is the strongest aspect of your game? What are you looking to improve upon prior to the start of the season?

I think the strongest aspect of my game is my defense. I am hoping to improve on everything I can before the start of the season because there is always room for improvement and if you aren't getting better you are getting worse.

Q: What has been your favorite volleyball experience to date?

My favorite volleyball experience would have to be my game on senior night last year. We were playing our biggest rivals, who had won the state title the year before, and we went to five games and ended up winning. The stands were filled with fans cheering throughout the match and the fact that it was my senior night made it so much more special.

Q: What is/are your superstition(s)?

I have to wear my lucky sports bras on game days and special socks.

Q: What are your career aspirations after graduation?

I am still unsure exactly what I want to do after graduation, but I would love to be a sports broadcaster or anything in that field.

Q: You claim to be the Brian Wilson of volleyball. Why?

I am the Brian Wilson of volleyball because I am the first part of the play--I either dig a hit from an opponent, pass, serve receive, or serve. My play usually determines how the rest of the play will go depending on if I get a good pass or not.

Q: If you did not play volleyball, what sport would you play?

I would probably play basketball because it is a fast-pace and intense game.

Q: If a celebrity played you in a movie, who would it be and why?

Sandra Bullock because she is an amazing actress and absolutely hilarious. So she would make me sound cool and funny.

Q: What song on your iPod are you embarrassed to admit that you listen to?

None. All my songs are cool I think.

Q: What is your favorite pregame meal/snack?

Either a sandwich or pasta and I always have to have some goldfish.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island and you could only have three things, what would they be?

My phone, my car, and a barge filled with food.
