The month of June saw several current Terps and two future Terps in action.
Rising junior Sean Bosdosh kicked off the month with a runner-up performance at the Maryland Men's Amateur Championship played at Chartwell Country Club in Severna Park, Md., from June 7-10.
Bosdosh qualified for the match play portion of the tournament with a 1-under 70 in the opening round. The Clarksburg, Md., native proceeded to blitz through four rounds of match play to reach the finals. In the final match, Bosdosh fell 3-and-2 to Josh Eure, a rising senior at the University of Arkansas. It is Bosdosh's second medal at the event. He won the title in 2010 at Congressional Country Club.
Maryland golf was very well represented at the Maryland Men's Amateur Championship. Bosdosh was joined by his brother Stephen, a rising senior, rising sophomores Jordan Sweet and Ben Warnquist, and rising junior Will Wiseman. In total, seven current and former players qualified for the match play field.
Stephen Bosdosh, Sweet and Warnquist all reached the match play portion. Of the current Terps competing, Stephen carded the low round with a 2-under 69, while Sweet and Warnquist each fired a 1-over 72 to qualify. Wiseman finished with an 82.
On the international front, incoming freshman Tom Harris, who plays for the England A Squad, posted scores of 69-75 at the English Golf Union Northern Counties Men's Qualifying Championship played at The Ponteland Golf Club in Scotland to finish in a tie for ninth.
Returning to his home state of Minnesota, incoming freshman Andrew McCain carded a 1-over 73 at the Keller Golf Course in Maplewood, Minn., to qualify for the Minnesota State Open which will be held at the Bunker Hill Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn., July 20-22.
The Maryland State Open is on deck for many of the Terps.
