FB_Blog_Header.jpg The Terps had a special visitor to the Gossett Team House this week. Former All-America tight end Vernon Davis shared some of his experiences with the current crop of Terps.

Davis played with the Terps from  2003-05, leaving after his junior season and becoming the sixth overall pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft.

He had a breakout 2009 campaign when he matched the NFL record for TD catches (13) by tight end. Antonio Gates of the San Diego Chargers set the record in 2004. But Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots snapped the mark with 17 touchdown receptions this past season.

Davis also had an impressive 2011 playoffs, helping the 49ers reach the NFC title game. He had seven catches for 180 yards in the divisional-round win over New Orleans, setting the record for most yards in playoff game by a tight end (166 by Kellen Winslow in a 1982 playoff game).
