While the defense continues its steady play, Maryland's offense got its swagger back Tuesday against Richmond.
Welcome Back Attack
Maryland racked up its highest goal output since Feb. 16 in an 18-9 rout of Richmond at the complex Tuesday.
The Terps are undefeated in 2012 when they record 10 or more goals. Take away their two losses -which both were coincidentally decided by 10-9 scores - Maryland is averaging over 16 goals per game, a mark that would rank them in the top two nationally.
It was also an offensive awakening for redshirt freshman Brooke Griffin, who tallied a game-high four goals in the match. When Griffin scores, she scores big. The rookie notched four, five and two goals, respectively in a trio of games to start the season before a brief scoring hiatus heading into the Richmond game.
Congrats Puddy!
Huge kudos to Karri Ellen Johnson who recorded her 200th career goal Tuesday. She became only the third player in Maryland's storied women's lacrosse history to post the milestone number.
The senior four-time Tewaaraton Watch List nominee joins Jen Adams and Kelly Coppedge in the Terps' top three on the career goals list. She needs 19 goals to move up to No. 2.
March Madness Hits College Park Saturday
Fans planning on attending the Terps' ACC contest against Boston College Saturday should be aware parking may be tight. The Comcast Center will play host to the first and second rounds of the 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament beginning with Maryland's game against Navy at 11:15 a.m.
Good luck to all the Terps competing this weekend! Fear the turtle!
