Modzelewski played for the Terps from 1950-52, helping lead them to the Southern Conference Championship and national title in 1951.

He was a three-time All-America choice at tackle and is one of 10 consensus All-Americans in school history.

Modzelewski is a member of both the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame.
