Hey Terp fans!
It's been a really exciting week and beginning of our season!
Competition season is my favorite part of gymnastics and, not only do we get to show off what we've been working at the whole year, but we also get to travel and hang out as a team.Leading up to the meet we had a great week of practice and the energy was really high in the gym as we were all getting excited for our meet. We also had a couple of team dinners that were amazing! Brett had us over at his house on Tuesday and his fiancé taught us how to make peanut Asian lettuce wraps. They were delicious! Then on Wednesday, we all went to Dani Kram's house and her family made a huge dinner for us including BBQ chicken, salmon, potatoes, and a salad. Thanks to the Kram's for the wonderful dinner!
On Saturday we were off to West Virginia. We always travel in style and this year we get to ride in our new Maryland busses. They have bigger TV screens which is perfect for all the chick-flicks we love watching on our trips! This time we watched our team favorite, Bridesmaids.
We competed on Sunday and had one of our best opening meets ever! Our final team score was a 194.225 and we only had two missed routines out of 24. While there is still a lot of room for improvement, it was a great starting point. The freshmen did a great job in their first meet and other people on the team really stepped up and had great performances. Karen Tang placed first on bars, Ally Krikorian and Katy Dodds got third on vault, and Katy placed second on floor. As a team we had great energy and everyone supported each other. I think this was a key factor in our successful performance. I'm looking forward to our first home meet which is Friday!
I'm really proud to be a Terp and I'm excited to see what the rest of the season will bring!
Thanks for reading!
