Tied with Boomer: Danny O'Brien had his 18th touchdown pass of the season in the second quarter against NC State, which is tied for the fourth most in a single season in school history with Boomer Esiason, who did it in 1982. Scott Milanovich owns the school record with 26 in 1993.

More Marks For O'Brien: O'Brien had 190 passing yards in the first half and now has 2,030 this season. He now ranks 10th on the ACC's single-season freshman passing yardage list. With his TD pass he is responsible for 20 TDs this season (18 passing, 1 rushing, 1 receiving). He is just the eighth player in Maryland history to account for 20 or more TDs in a season. The last player to account for 20-plus TDs in a season was Scott McBrien in 2003, who had 25.

Smith Moves Up: With seven receptions, Torrey Smith moved past Darrius Heyward Bey for third place on the school career receptions list. The junior now has 143 in his career, behind just Geroy Simon (185; 1993-96) and Jermaine Lewis (193, 1992-95). He also became just the fourth Maryland player to reach 2,000 receiving yards in a career, joining Lewis (2,932), Heyward-Bey (2,089) and Simon (2,059). Smith has 2,067.

TD Mark: Smith made his ninth touchdown reception of the season with 2:25 left in the second quarter to tie the score at 14-14. That ties the school record for single-season TD receptions set by Jermaine Lewis (1994) and Marcus Badgett (1992).

All-Purpose Yards Mark: Smith now holds the Maryland career all-purpose yards mark, passing Lamont Jordan (4,960, 1997-00). He had 109 in the first half, giving him 5,020 in his career.

No. 17: Eric Franklin intercepted NC State QB Russell Wilson late in the second quarter, marking the 17th interception for the Maryland defense this season (second for Franklin). It's the most interceptions since 2002 when Maryland had 18. The interception set up a touchdown and the Terps are now outscoring opponents 87 -20 in points off turnovers.

Baltz's Boot: Travis Baltz connected on a 52-yard field goal with 12 seconds left in the second quarter, the longest FG of his career. It's the longest field goal by a Maryland kicker since Nick Novak had a 54-yarder in 2003. Earlier in the game Baltz had missed a 37 yarder, snapping a streak of eight consecutive made field goals.

Touchdown Machine: D.J. Adams finished the half with minus-1 yard on four carries, but had a two-yard TD run, his team-high seventh this season.

Tidbits: Antwine Perez had a game-high seven tackles at halftime, including a TFL ... Maryland dominated the time of possession, 18:14 to 11:46 ... Maryland was 4 of 10 on third downs and 2 of 3 in the red zone.
