For his performance at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic on Nov. 13, sophomore Josh Asper has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Asper was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Brockport Classic and won the individual title at the 165-pound weight class.
Ranked No. 4 nationally by INtermat, Asper scored bonus points in all for of his victories Saturday. He started his championship run with a 19-4 technicall fall over American's Tanner Shaffer followed by back-to-back major decisions against Jake Vetter of Army and Chase Nelson of Oklahoma. In the 165-pound final, Asper defeated No. 7 Scott Winston of Rutgers via 11-3 major decision.
On the season, Asper is an undefeated 7-0, with four major decisions, two technical falls and a pin.
