DeSouza, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, suffered non-life threatening injuries - fractures in both lower legs (technical term - open reduction internal fixation of both the left and right tibia and fibula).
He had surgery on Friday at a Washington, D.C., hospital and is expected to remain there until early next week. DeSouza will be in the ICU unit through the weekend.
Note: Due to DeSouza's injury, the Terps shuffled their starting offensive lineman. Paul Pinegar moved from center to right tackle, a spot he started at last season, while Bennett Fulper was inserted as the No. 1 center.
