Maryland leads FIU 21-14 at halftime thanks to Tony Logan's 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and a balanced offensive attack.
Redshirt freshman Danny O'Brien made his first collegiate start, in place of an injured Jamarr Robinson, and went
12 of 17, including a 9-yard touchdown pass to LaQuan Williams, the second scoring reception of his career.
Da'Rel Scott rushed for 69 yards with a season-long run of 56 yards for a
touchdown.
Scott's gallop was the second-longest rush of his career (63-yard TD vs. Middle Tennessee State in 2008).
First half notes: Logan's punt return for a touchdown was Maryland's first since Steve Suter had one on Jan. 1, 2004 ... Scott's 56-yard TD was Maryland's first 50-yard TD run since Dec. 30, 2008 ... O'Brien became the first freshman quarterback to start since Calvin McCall on Sept. 2, 1999 ... Torrey Smith had a season-high five receptions for 68 yards ... the Terps totaled 203 yards of total offense on just 29 plays, while FIU had 209 yards on 41 plays.
