The offense scored easily on a number of possessions before the defensive stepped up at the end.
"The defense had two stops and the offense dominated the rest of the game," head coach Ralph Friedgen said after the practice. "The kids like that. I do it because it is a little bit of contact, it gets the enthusiasm going and you run a low risk of getting anyone hurt."
D.J. Adams, Caleb Porzel, Gary Douglas, Morgan Green and Andrew Braxton all hit paydirt.
Adams, who redshirted last season, scored on two consecutive attempts to open the drill.
After Porzel, Douglas and Braxton scored, the defense started to tighten.
A.J. Francis had one of the best tackles of the drill, stuffing Green behind the line of scrimmage on his first attempt.
Green scored on the next play, but needed three rushes on the next possession to make the 10 yards.
The final possession of the drill proved to be the most exciting.
The trio safety trio of Antwine Perez, Kenny Tate and Eric Franklin dominated the line of scrimmage in stuffing Adams four consecutive times (one play called back because of a penalty).
"I thought at the end, I had pretty good match-ups," Friedgen said. "I had Kenny Tate against Kevin Dorsey. Antwine Perez was against LaQuan Williams".
The Terps are off until Tuesday afternoon when take the field for spring workout No. 4.
