COLLEGE PARK, Md.  — Sophomore Seth Allen scored 22 points and connected on six 3-point attempts as a late Maryland rally fell shorts against No. 4 Syracuse, 57-55, on Monday night.

Maryland trailed 51-39 with 5:45 left and staged a furious comeback with a 15-6 run behind the play of Allen and junior Dez Wells (15 points). Allen's game-winning 3-point rimmed out as time expired.

"You've got to give [Syracuse] credit," said head coach Mark Turgeon. "Their length and their zone is unique. We just didn't attack it the way we needed to. We missed some good opportunities tonight."

Freshman guard Tyler Ennis led Syracuse with 20 points and senior C.J. Fair, a native of Baltimore, Md., added 17 points.

It was the first sellout of the season at Maryland, who has six days off before traveling to Clemson for its final regular season ACC road game.

"The crowd got us into it, they kept us going," Allen said. "That was big for us, we made a lot of big shots late and we made a lot of free throws.”
