RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior Sarah Harper surpassed 1,600 career digs to move into second place on the all-time Maryland digs list as the Terrapin volleyball team fell to North Carolina State, 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22), Saturday night in Raleigh, N.C.

Harper led Maryland (11-11, 3-7 ACC) with 23 digs on the evening, including 11 in the first frame. Meanwhile, freshman Ashlyn MacGregor had a career-high 11 blocks and Ashleigh Crutcher posted 12 kills.

As has become customary, the Terps were phenomenal defensively as they notched a season-high 19 blocks in the effort. Maryland could not match its efficiency on the offensive side, however, as it managed just a .131 hitting percentage.

Trailing 2-0 at the intermission break, the Terrapins regrouped and came out firing in the third set to the tune of 14 kills and just two errors (.414 pct.). Crutcher led the way with four kills in the frame.

Despite being held to a meager .164 hitting percentage, NC State (17-5, 8-2 ACC) was able to oust the Terps behind a team-high 15 kills from Dariyan Hopper. Alston Kearns had 19 digs for the Pack.

Maryland has a quick turnaround as it plays its third match in six days Wednesday in Comcast Pavilion against ACC newcomer Pittsburgh.
