COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team turned in a dominate performance against LIU Brooklyn Saturday afternoon and swept the match in three sets at Comcast Pavilion in the second game of the Maryland Invitational.
After totaling 17 blocks last night, the Terps (4-1) recorded 14 total team blocks. The Terps tallied more blocks in each set individually than the Blackbirds did in the entire match (3). Emily Fraik posted a match-high two blocks and added four assisted blocks. Ashlyn MacGregor led the match in assisted blocks with eight.
Offensively, Adreené Elliott led the way with 12 kills, while Ashleigh Crutcher added eight.
In the opening set, Maryland used a 14-2 run at the end to win 25-17. Crutcher had three kills and Elliott’s two were responsible for the first two points of the set.
The second set was much more evenly played with the team team's tied 11 times. Maryland took control toward the end and won 25-21. Elliott made a statement with six kills in the second set alone.
Maryland closed out the match in the third set by the final score of 25-22. Four kills each for Elliott and Mary Cushman helped the Terps end the match.
The Terps take on Penn at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night to close out the Maryland Invitational. Maryland won its game Friday night against UMKC after coming back from a 2-0 deficit.
